Newly installed color-coated steel roofing boasts vibrant colors and, due to its ease of installation and moderate cost, is widely used in many industrial facilities. Despite its numerous advantages, it ultimately cannot escape rusting. Corrosion issues in color-coated steel roofing intensify over time, making renovation of rusted panels essential.
The corrosion process of color-coated steel roofing involves complex chemical reactions. Rust typically appears reddish-brown, primarily composed of hydrated iron oxide and iron hydroxide. While rust on the surface may seem firmly attached to the substrate, it actually adheres weakly. Tiny pores exist between the rust layer and the substrate, allowing oxygen and water vapor from the air to directly contact the base material. This ultimately leads to complete rusting of the substrate.
When exposed to prolonged wind and sun, the surface coating of color steel tiles deteriorates. This allows atmospheric oxygen to directly contact the substrate, triggering rust formation. Therefore, renovation and anti-corrosion treatments essentially involve applying paint to isolate the substrate from direct air exposure. This creates a fully sealed environment, preventing the substrate from reacting with atmospheric oxygen and achieving corrosion and rust prevention.

LFBJMB identifies the following symptoms as indicators that a roof requires renovation and maintenance:
1. Localized rust spots on the metal roof indicate the onset of the rainy season. If not addressed promptly, these rust spots will spread across the surface, accelerating corrosion. At this stage, minor rust typically does not compromise the panels. Timely renovation poses minimal risk to the sheets while reducing long-term costs through early maintenance.
2. Rust is present across the entire peak area of the color steel tile roof. If corrosion progresses further, it will cause leaks and water seepage at joints and nail holes. This clearly indicates that renovating the color steel tiles is imperative. Timely renovation also prevents further damage; waiting until leaks occur will be very time-consuming.
3. Severe corrosion of the metal roof panels warrants special attention. Extensive rusting can trigger numerous problems, including potential leaks that may currently be minor and undetected. Once leaks become apparent, the issues may escalate significantly, requiring more extensive repairs. At that stage, not only will the color steel tiles require refurbishment, but additional waterproofing measures will also be necessary, increasing costs. Therefore, proactively undertaking color steel tile refurbishment is highly advisable.
